No Google!?! No Internet
Sites!?! No Wikipedia!?!
- Google is a search engine that only searches the free, public Internet.
If you use Google to search for information for your research paper you will
have to wade through millions of hits that aren't appropriate for academic
research. If you do use a website as a source, you must carefully evaluate
it to ensure that it is reputable and reliable. Subscription services like ProQuest, Lexis-Nexis and Ebsco
have already done some of that work for you. These
databases are your best source for scholarly, reputable information. You
should especially look for articles from scholarly or peer-reviewed
publications! The databases will also help you narrow or broaden your
search terms to find information. How do you access these databases?

- Wikipedia is a free, open-source, public encyclopedia. That means that
anyone, ANYONE, can edit the information. This is not a valid, reputable
source for research. Even the founders of Wikipedia tell you not to use it
as an academic source.
