Beep, beep, beep. The alarm goes off. It is not yet six on a cool summer morning, and I am already waking up. I then get dressed and drive up to the school. There, I lift weights, go through agility drills, and run sprints. I go through this routine four times a week throughout the whole summer. After I return home to shower and maybe take a short nap, I go right back up to school to shoot with some basketball teammates or run through passing routes with the quarterback. I put in all of this effort to improve my athletic ability and prepare myself for the upcoming football and basketball seasons. I believe in setting goals and working hard to reach them.
Every year a few weeks after the season ends, the coach always holds a meeting to talk over the aspirations for the next year. We discuss what we did badly the year before and find ways to improve ourselves. The team sets goals that we want to get accomplished. Then each individual sets their own personal goals in order to help improve the team. Some of the players are too selfish and don't care enough about the team or the goals. These players will only halfheartedly go to practices set up by the coach, while the others will spend their own time at the gym, at the field, or in the weight room. These individuals refuse to be lazy and decide to put in the effort. They have a vision for the team and are willing to do whatever it takes to reach it.
Setting goals is not only done in sports but in all of the different aspects in life. I believe that a person should set goals in any area or activity that he or she needs to work on. This could be improving their position at their job, improving their grades in school, or improving relationships with family members or friends. Having a vision and working hard are the two most important aspects in dealing with goals. Striving for goals will help turn any individual's life for the better. I believe that setting goals and trying hard to reach them is something that everyone should continually be working towards.
